UPOSATHA DAY PALI CHANTING & WISHING ALL HAPPY CHINESE LUNAR NEW YEAR 2019
The Uposatha (Sanskrit: Upavasatha) is a Buddhist day of observance, in existence from the Buddha's time (600 BCE), and still being kept today in Buddhist countries. The Buddha taught that the Uposatha day is for "the cleansing of the defiled mind," resulting in inner calm and joy. On this day, both lay and ordained members of the sangha intensify their practice, deepen their knowledge and express communal commitment through millennia-old acts of lay-monastic reciprocity. On these days, the lay followers make a conscious effort to keep the Five Precepts or (as the tradition suggests) the eight precepts. It is a day for practicing the Buddha's teachings and meditation.

NEW BOOK
This is one of several talks given by Sayadaw U Jotika in the Mangala Vihara Buddhist Society in Singapore in 2003.
In this talk, Sayadaw elaborates upon the lasting benefits of practicing meditation and why everybody should incorporate meditation as an integral part of their daily lives. By sharing his spiritual journey growing up as a man who has studied many religions, Sayadaw demonstrates how meditation enabled him to find the answers he was seeking.
Sayadaw U Jotika was born into a non-Buddhist family on 5 August 1947, educated in a Roman Catholic missionary school, studied Electrical Engineering and read widely in Western and Eastern philosophy and psychology. Sayadaw has been living for extended periods in solitude before moving and staying in Yangon, Myanmar.
We have been publishing Sayadaw's books since year 2005. The list of books are as follows:
- Snow in the Summer (2005)
- A Map of the Journey (2005)
- Dhamma Lived I : Dealing with Negativity & Aggravation AND Forgiveness (2005)
- Life is a Spiritual Journey (2006)
- Breaking the Link (2006)
- The Two Kinds of Reality (2007)
- Sensations, Feelings & Emotions (2008)
- Life is a Spiritual Journey (in Chinese 2013)
